Alternative Investment Fund Manager (AIFM)

An alternative investment fund manager (AIFM) manages alternative investment funds (AIFs). It requires authorisation under the AIFM Directive (2011/61/EU) or its national implementation; authorisation confers the EU passport for cross-border management and for distribution to professional investors. In addition, AIFMs may obtain authorisation for certain investment services, such as individual portfolio management, investment advice or the reception and transmission of orders.

Ein Alternativer Investmentfonds Manager (AIFM) verwaltet Alternative Investmentfonds (AIF). Er bedarf einer Zulassung nach der AIFM-Richtlinie (2011/61/EU) beziehungsweise deren nationaler Umsetzung; die Zulassung vermittelt den EU-Pass für die grenzüberschreitende Verwaltung und den Vertrieb an professionelle Anleger. Zusätzlich können AIFM die Bewilligung für einzelne Wertpapierdienstleistungen erlangen, etwa die individuelle Portfolioverwaltung, die Anlageberatung oder die Vermittlung von Aufträgen.
