When an investor pays a fixed amount into a fund, he receives a varying number of shares depending on the fund’s current value. The benefit of the cost average effect increases with the length of the savings plan and the degree of price fluctuation.

Zahlt ein Anleger regelmässig einen fixen Betrag in einen Fonds ein, werden je nach dem aktuellen Wert des Fonds dafür mehr oder weniger Anteile gekauft. Der Cost-Average-Effekt ist umso vorteilhafter, je länger der Sparplan dauert und je stärker die Kursschwankungen ausfallen.
