Assets pooled by investors for the purpose of collective investment, managed by a fund company in accordance with the provisions of the law and regulations, and held separately in safekeeping by a custodian bank. Investment funds are as a rule subject to specific legislation and supervision in their home country. They may a) be open-end or closed-end, b) have different legal forms, c) be offered to all investors or only certain groups of investors or d) invest in money market instruments, securities, real estate or other assets, and may follow different investment objectives and strategies.

Von Anlegern zum Zweck der gemeinschaftlichen Kapitalanlage aufgebrachte Vermögen, die von einer Fondsgesellschaft gemäss gesetzlichen und reglementarischen Bestimmungen verwaltet und von einer Depotbank gesondert aufbewahrt werden. Anlagefonds unterstehen in ihren Domizilländern in der Regel einer besonderen Gesetzgebung und Aufsicht. Sie können: a) offen oder geschlossen sein, b) unterschiedliche Rechtsformen aufweisen, c) allen oder nur bestimmten Anlegerkategorien angeboten werden und d) in Geldmarktinstrumente, Wertpapiere, Immobilien oder andere Vermögenswerte investieren und unterschiedliche Anlageziele und -strategien befolgen.
