Beim Cloud Computing werden IT-Infrastrukturen, Plattformen und Software als Dienstleistung über ein Netzwerk bezogen. Das System läuft in einem entfernten Rechenzentrum, wird aber vom lokalen Arbeitsplatz genutzt. Formen sind Software as a Service (SaaS), Platform und Infrastructure as a Service sowie Disaster Recovery as a Service. FinTechs und Banken nutzen die Cloud namentlich im Zahlungsverkehr, weil laufend neue Sicherheitsstandards gelten und sich eigener Softwarebetrieb selten lohnt. Für Beaufsichtigte gelten die Auslagerungsanforderungen der FINMA (Governance, Datensicherheit, Prüfrechte) sowie Bankkunden- und Datenschutz.

In cloud computing, IT infrastructure, platforms and software are obtained as a service over a network. The system runs in a remote data centre but is used from the local workstation. Variants include software as a service (SaaS), platform and infrastructure as a service, and disaster recovery as a service. FinTechs and banks use the cloud notably in payments, since security standards evolve constantly and running one's own software rarely pays. Supervised institutions must observe FINMA's outsourcing requirements (governance, data security, audit rights) as well as banking secrecy and data protection.
