Attachment under debt collection law is the seizure of the debtor's assets at the request of a creditor, based on the existence of certain legal requirements, for the purpose of securing the enforcement of a debt already initiated or imminent against him.

Der betreibungsrechtliche Arrest ist die auf Antrag eines Gläubigers und gestützt auf das Vorhandensein bestimmter gesetzlicher Voraussetzungen vorgenommene Beschlagnahmung von Vermögensgegenständen des Schuldners zum Zwecke der Sicherung einer gegen ihn bereits eingeleiteten oder bevorstehenden Schuldbetreibung.
