When establishing closed funds, the capital is raised by selling a certain number of shares which is limited right from the start. The fund is closed as soon as the planned volume has been reached. The share price is not determined by the actual value of the fund assets but by free pricing. Depending on the supply and demand situation, the fund can therefore be traded with a premium or discount on the net asset value.

Beim Start solcher Fonds werden die Gelder durch den Verkauf einer bestimmten, von vornherein begrenzten Anzahl von Anteilen aufgebracht. Sobald das geplante Fondsvolumen erreicht ist, wird der Fonds geschlossen. Der Kurs eines Anteils richtet sich nicht nach dem tatsächlichen Wert des Fondsvermögens, sondern wird durch die freie Preisbildung bestimmt. Deshalb kann der Fonds je nach Angebot und Nachfrage mit einem Aufgeld (Agio) oder einem Abgeld (Disagio) gegenüber dem Inventarwert gehandelt werden.
