Exchange traded funds (ETFs) are exchange-listed investment funds of unlimited duration that are traded continuously like shares during trading hours. Most replicate an index one to one and offer investors the same risk and return profile as the underlying. ETFs are passive investment vehicles: they do not aim to outperform a benchmark (alpha) but to provide low-cost access to market performance (beta). As ordinary investment funds they enjoy the statutory investor protection of the Collective Investment Schemes Act and are supervised by FINMA.

Exchange Traded Funds (ETF) sind börsenkotierte Anlagefonds ohne Laufzeitbegrenzung, die während der Handelszeiten fortlaufend wie Aktien gehandelt werden. Meist bilden sie einen Index eins zu eins nach und bieten den Anlegern dasselbe Risiko- und Renditeprofil wie der Basiswert. ETF sind passive Anlagevehikel: Sie streben keine Outperformance (Alpha) gegenüber einer Benchmark an, sondern kostengünstigen Zugang zur Marktrendite (Beta). Als gewöhnliche Anlagefonds geniessen sie den gesetzlichen Anlegerschutz des KAG und stehen unter der Aufsicht der FINMA.
