Subscriptions and redemptions cause transaction costs at portfolio level: subscriptions require additional liquidity to be invested, redemptions require liquidity to be raised through sales. The fund thereby incurs brokerage, commissions, taxes and duties as well as the bid-ask spread; these costs impair performance and are borne by all investors. The issue premium mostly serves as distribution compensation, while the redemption fee may be credited to the fund management or to the fund's assets. Remedies are charging transaction expenses to those who cause them, swinging single pricing or dual pricing (anti-dilution measures).

Zeichnungen und Rücknahmen verursachen Transaktionskosten auf Portfolioebene: Bei Zeichnungen muss zusätzliche Liquidität angelegt, bei Rücknahmen durch Verkäufe geschaffen werden. Dem Fonds entstehen dabei Courtagen, Kommissionen, Steuern und Abgaben sowie der Spread zwischen Geld- und Briefkurs; diese Kosten schmälern die Performance und werden von allen Anlegern getragen. Der Ausgabeaufschlag dient meist der Vertriebsentschädigung, die Rücknahmegebühr kann der Fondsleitung oder dem Fondsvermögen gutgeschrieben werden. Abhilfe schaffen verursachergerechte Belastung der Titeltransaktionsspesen, Swinging Single Pricing oder Dual Pricing (Anti-Dilution-Massnahmen).
