Honor is the prestige that a person enjoys in society because that person has certain qualities and requirements in the eyes of others. Honour is an important personal good and we are particularly protected by law. Honour, it is said, has a right to validity.

Die Ehre ist das Ansehen, welche eine Person in der Gesellschaft geniesst, weil diese Person in den Augen der anderen Personen gewisse Qualitäten und Anforderungen aufweist. Die Ehre ist ein wichtiges persönliches Gut und wird vom Recht besonders geschützt. Die Ehre hat, so sagt man, Anspruch auf Geltung.
