The hire purchase agreement is the contract for the sale of movable goods, in which the transfer of the goods to be sold is immediate, while the performance of the recipient is to be made in periodic instalments. The entry in the register is a mandatory prerequisite for the retention of title.

Das Abzahlungsgeschäft ist der auf Veräusserung beweglicher Sachen gerichtete Vertrag, bei dem die Übergabe der zu veräussernden Sachen sofort vollzogen wird, während die Leistung des Empfängers in periodischen Teilzahlungen zu erfolgen hat. Der Registereintrag ist für den Eigentumsvorbehalt zwingende Wirksamkeitsvoraussetzung.
