The obligation to declare is the obligation of the shipper resulting from the contract of carriage to provide the carrier with precise information on the packages, the consignee, the route of transport and other elementary freight-related data as a preparatory act and to assume responsibility for it.

Die Deklarationspflicht ist die aus dem Frachtvertrag sich ergebende Verpflichtung des Absenders, dem Frachtführer genaue Angaben über die Frachtstücke, den Empfänger, den Transportweg und weiteren elementaren frachtbezogenen Angaben als Vorbereitungshandlung zu unterbreiten und dafür die Verantwortung zu übernehmen.
