Tied agents are persons whom investment firms and credit institutions may use under the European MiFID II for investment advice and for the reception and transmission of orders. They act under the umbrella of liability of a single institution, deal with clients only in that institution's name and for its account, and are entered in a public register. The institution remains fully responsible for their conduct and must ensure their suitability and supervision. Swiss law has no equivalent register regime; here the conduct rules of the FinSA apply.

Vertraglich gebundene Vermittler (Tied Agents) sind Personen, die Wertpapierfirmen und Kreditinstitute nach der europäischen MiFID II für die Anlageberatung sowie die Annahme und Übermittlung von Aufträgen heranziehen dürfen. Sie handeln unter dem Haftungsdach eines einzigen Instituts, treten gegenüber den Kunden nur in dessen Namen und auf dessen Rechnung auf und werden in ein öffentliches Register eingetragen. Das Institut bleibt für ihr Verhalten uneingeschränkt verantwortlich und muss ihre Eignung und Überwachung sicherstellen. Das schweizerische Recht kennt kein entsprechendes Registerinstitut; hier gelten die Verhaltensregeln des FIDLEG.
