Undertaking for collective investment in transferable securities (UCITS)

A UCITS (undertaking for collective investment in transferable securities) serves exclusively to invest funds raised from the public for the collective account, on the principle of risk diversification, in liquid financial assets such as securities and money market instruments. It is a pool of assets divided into equal units belonging to the unit holders; units are redeemed at the investors' request out of the fund's assets. The legal basis is Directive 2009/65/EC (the UCITS Directive). The UCITS is the standard European vehicle for retail funds.

Der OGAW (Organismus für gemeinsame Anlagen in Wertpapieren) dient ausschliesslich der Anlage beim Publikum beschaffter Gelder für gemeinsame Rechnung nach dem Grundsatz der Risikostreuung in liquide Finanzanlagen wie Wertpapiere und Geldmarktinstrumente. Es handelt sich um ein Sondervermögen, das in gleiche Anteile zerfällt und den Anteilinhabern zusteht; die Anteile werden auf Verlangen der Anleger zulasten des Vermögens zurückgenommen. Grundlage ist die Richtlinie 2009/65/EG (OGAW-Richtlinie); international ist die Bezeichnung UCITS gebräuchlich. Der OGAW ist das europäische Standardvehikel für Publikumsfonds.
