A digital representation of value that is not issued or guaranteed by a central bank or a public authority, is not necessarily attached to a legally established currency and does not possess a legal status of currency or money, but is accepted by natural or legal persons as a means of exchange and which can be transferred, stored and traded electronically.

Digitale Darstellung eines Werts, die von keiner Zentralbank oder öffentlichen Stelle emittiert wurde oder garantiert wird, und nicht zwangsläufig an eine gesetzlich festgelegte Währung angebunden ist und die nicht den gesetzlichen Status einer Währung oder von Geld besitzt, aber von natürlichen oder juristischen Personen als Tauschmittel akzeptiert wird und die auf elektronischem Wege übertragen, gespeichert und gehandelt werden kann.
