The civil law appeal (appellation) is an ordinary legal remedy. The aim is not only to improve errors made by the lower court in factual or legal matters, but to reach a completely new decision in the legal dispute by continuing and renewing the hearing and with the fundamental admissibility of new means of attack and defence.

Die zivilrechtliche Berufung (Appellation) ist ordentliches Rechtsmittel. Das Ziel ist nicht nur Verbesserung von Fehlern des Untergerichts in tatsächlicher oder rechtlicher Beziehung, sondern eine völlig neue Entscheidung des Rechtsstreites durch Fortsetzung und Erneuerung der Verhandlung und mit der grundsätzlichen Zulässigkeit neuer Angriffs- und Verteidigungsmittel.
