Climate Protection Act

The Climate Protection Act (Federal Act on Climate Protection Goals, Innovation and Strengthening Energy Security, CIA) was adopted by the people on 18 June 2023 and has been in force since 1 January 2025. It enshrines the net-zero target for 2050, interim targets and sectoral benchmarks, commits companies to net zero by 2050 and promotes heating replacement and novel technologies through impulse programmes; the financial sector is to align its financial flows with climate goals.

Klimaschutzgesetz 1132-de
Das Klimaschutzgesetz (Bundesgesetz über die Ziele im Klimaschutz, die Innovation und die Stärkung der Energiesicherheit, KlG) wurde am 18. Juni 2023 vom Volk angenommen und ist seit 1. Januar 2025 in Kraft. Es verankert das Netto-Null-Ziel 2050, Zwischenziele und sektorielle Richtwerte, verpflichtet die Unternehmen auf Netto-Null bis 2050 und fördert mit Impulsprogrammen den Heizungsersatz und neuartige Technologien; der Finanzsektor soll seine Finanzflüsse klimaverträglich ausrichten.
