The dereliction is the abandonment of possession of an object by the owner with the intention of renouncing ownership. The thing becomes ownerless, even if it is in the custody of a third party, and in logical consequence also occupyable.

Die Dereliktion ist Aufgabe des Besitzes einer Sache durch den Eigentümer in der Absicht, auf das Eigentum zu verzichten. Die Sache wird herrenlos, auch wenn sie sich im Gewahrsam eines Dritten befindet, und in logischer Folge auch okkupierbar.
