The Marshall Plan was the American reconstruction programme for Europe from 1948. Switzerland was one of the few countries to draw no funds, but it joined the Organisation for European Economic Co-operation and benefited considerably: demand in neighbouring countries, financed by Marshall Plan credits, met an intact Swiss industry and triggered an export boom. Participation in the OEEC was also Switzerland's first step towards western European economic integration.

Der Marshallplan war das amerikanische Wiederaufbauprogramm für Europa ab 1948. Die Schweiz nahm als eines der wenigen Länder keine Gelder in Anspruch, beteiligte sich aber an der Organisation für europäische wirtschaftliche Zusammenarbeit und profitierte erheblich: Die von den Marshallplan-Krediten finanzierte Nachfrage der Nachbarländer traf auf eine intakte schweizerische Industrie und löste einen Exportboom aus. Die Teilnahme an der OEEC war zudem der erste Schritt der Schweiz in die westeuropäische Wirtschaftsintegration.
