The peace agreement of 19 July 1937 between the Swiss Metal and Watch Workers' Union and the employers' association of the engineering industry bound both sides to an absolute duty of industrial peace: strikes and lock-outs were excluded for the term of the contract and disputes were to be settled by negotiation and arbitration. The agreement became the model for Swiss social partnership, dampened the class conflicts of the inter-war years and is regarded as one foundation of post-war economic stability.

Das Friedensabkommen vom 19. Juli 1937 zwischen dem Schweizerischen Metall- und Uhrenarbeiterverband und dem Arbeitgeberverband der Maschinenindustrie verpflichtete beide Seiten zur absoluten Friedenspflicht: Streiks und Aussperrungen wurden für die Dauer des Vertrags ausgeschlossen, Streitigkeiten sind durch Verhandlung und Schiedsgericht zu erledigen. Das Abkommen wurde zum Modell für die schweizerische Sozialpartnerschaft, dämpfte die Klassenkonflikte der Zwischenkriegszeit und gilt als eine Grundlage der wirtschaftlichen Stabilität der Nachkriegszeit.
