Raiffeisen banks are cooperatively organised local banks which took root in Switzerland in 1899 on the model of Friedrich Wilhelm Raiffeisen. They rest on the self-help, self-administration and self-responsibility of their members and are regionally anchored. Some 200 legally independent banks are joined in the Raiffeisen Switzerland cooperative, which performs central functions and organises joint liability. The group is the third-largest banking group in Switzerland and is supervised as systemically important.

Raiffeisenbanken sind genossenschaftlich organisierte Lokalbanken, die nach dem Vorbild Friedrich Wilhelm Raiffeisens 1899 in der Schweiz Fuss fassten. Sie beruhen auf Selbsthilfe, Selbstverwaltung und Selbstverantwortung der Mitglieder und sind regional verankert. Rund 200 rechtlich selbständige Banken sind in der Raiffeisen Schweiz Genossenschaft zusammengeschlossen, die zentrale Aufgaben und die Solidarhaftung wahrnimmt. Die Gruppe ist die drittgrösste Bankengruppe der Schweiz und wird als systemrelevant beaufsichtigt.
