Delegation ist die Übertragung einer Aufgabe samt der zu ihrer Erfüllung nötigen Kompetenz und der Verantwortung für das Ergebnis. Die Führungsverantwortung bleibt bei der Vorgesetzten: Sie haftet für Auswahl, Instruktion und Überwachung. Wirksame Delegation setzt voraus, dass Ziel, Rahmen und Entscheidungsspielraum klar sind. Sie scheitert, wenn Aufgaben ohne Kompetenz übertragen werden oder wenn die Führungskraft die Aufgabe faktisch wieder an sich zieht.

Delegation 1014-en
Delegation is the transfer of a task together with the authority needed to perform it and the responsibility for the result. Leadership responsibility remains with the superior: she is answerable for selection, instruction and supervision. Effective delegation presupposes that the objective, the framework and the scope for decision are clear. It fails where tasks are transferred without authority, or where the manager in fact takes the task back.
