Intrinsische Motivation entsteht aus der Tätigkeit selbst: aus Interesse, Neugier, dem Erleben von Kompetenz und Selbstbestimmung. Nach der Selbstbestimmungstheorie von Deci und Ryan gedeiht sie, wenn Autonomie, Kompetenzerleben und soziale Eingebundenheit befriedigt werden. Sie führt zu höherer Ausdauer, Kreativität und Qualität als äussere Anreize. Führung kann sie nicht erzeugen, wohl aber ermöglichen; durch Kontrolle und Belohnung kann sie sie auch zerstören.

Intrinsic motivation 0998-en
Intrinsic motivation arises from the activity itself: from interest, curiosity and the experience of competence and self-determination. According to the self-determination theory of Deci and Ryan it flourishes where autonomy, the experience of competence and social relatedness are satisfied. It leads to greater persistence, creativity and quality than external incentives do. Leadership cannot create it, but it can make it possible; through control and reward it can also destroy it.
