Feedback is a response about observed behaviour and its effect. It is effective when given promptly, when it addresses concrete behaviour rather than the person, when it describes the effect from one's own perception, and when it raises points that can be changed. The widespread sandwich technique is regarded as outdated, because it dilutes the core message. What matters is the relationship: without a sound relationship and psychological safety, even carefully worded feedback is read as an attack.

Feedback ist die Rückmeldung über beobachtetes Verhalten und dessen Wirkung. Wirksam ist es, wenn es zeitnah erfolgt, sich auf konkretes Verhalten statt auf die Person bezieht, die Wirkung aus der eigenen Wahrnehmung schildert und veränderbare Punkte anspricht. Die verbreitete Sandwich-Technik gilt als überholt, weil sie die Kernbotschaft verwässert. Entscheidend ist das Verhältnis: Ohne tragfähige Beziehung und psychologische Sicherheit wird auch sorgfältig formuliertes Feedback als Angriff gelesen.
