Authoritarian leadership style

The authoritarian leadership style concentrates decision-making in the superior; employees carry out instructions without taking part in forming the decision. It permits rapid decisions and clear accountability and can be appropriate in a crisis or where qualifications are low. Applied permanently, it reduces initiative, creativity and satisfaction, and encourages a culture of silence in which mistakes are no longer reported.

Der autoritäre Führungsstil konzentriert die Entscheidung bei der Vorgesetzten; die Mitarbeitenden führen Anweisungen aus, ohne an der Willensbildung beteiligt zu sein. Er ermöglicht rasche Entscheide und klare Verantwortlichkeit und kann in Krisen und bei geringer Qualifikation angemessen sein. Dauerhaft senkt er Eigeninitiative, Kreativität und Zufriedenheit und begünstigt eine Kultur des Schweigens, in der Fehler nicht mehr gemeldet werden.
