Mediator

The mediator is the neutral, multipartial third party who conducts the mediation. The mediator has no power of decision but facilitates the parties' communication and negotiation, safeguards procedural fairness and supports them in developing their own solutions. In Switzerland the professional title is not protected by statute; quality standards are set by associations such as the Swiss Federation of Mediation Associations (SDM) or the Swiss Chamber of Commercial Mediation (SKWM).

Der Mediator ist die neutrale, allparteiliche Drittperson, welche das Mediationsverfahren leitet. Er hat keine Entscheidungsbefugnis, sondern fördert Kommunikation und Verhandlung der Parteien, wahrt die Verfahrensfairness und unterstützt die Entwicklung eigener Lösungen. Die Berufsbezeichnung ist in der Schweiz nicht gesetzlich geschützt; Qualitätsstandards setzen Verbände wie der Schweizerische Dachverband Mediation (SDM) oder die Schweizerische Kammer für Wirtschaftsmediation (SKWM).
