Professional secrecy

Professional secrecy is any knowledge which a person receives from others in the course of his or her duties and which is intended to extend only to a particular group of persons having knowledge, so that the disclosure of it to a third party against the will of the person entrusted with the secret appears to be a breach of an obligation assumed, expressly or implicitly.

Das Berufsgeheimnis ist jede Kenntnis, die jemand in Ausübung seines Berufes von andern anvertraut erhält und die sich nur auf einen bestimmten Kreis von Wissenden erstrecken soll, so dass das Einweihen Dritter gegen den Willen des Geheimnisherrn als Verletzung einer ausdrücklich oder stillschweigend übernommenen Pflicht erscheint.
