The use (also called expenditure) is a deliberate voluntary reduction of assets that is intended to benefit the assets of another person or an object. The compensation for use is expressly regulated in the case of unjust enrichment, in the right of possession and in the individual contractual relationships.

Die Verwendung (auch Aufwendung genannt) ist eine bewusste freiwillige Vermögensminderung, die dem Vermögen einer anderen Person oder einer Sache zugutekommen soll. Der Ersatz von Verwendungen ist ausdrücklich geregelt bei der ungerechtfertigten Bereicherung, im Besitzesrecht sowie in den einzelnen Vertragsverhältnissen.
