Dispute board

A dispute board is a standing dispute resolution body accompanying a project, used above all in large construction and infrastructure projects and appointed at the time the contract is concluded. Usually composed of one or three independent experts, it monitors the project continuously and, when disputes arise, issues prompt recommendations (dispute review board) or provisionally binding decisions (dispute adjudication board), for example under the FIDIC conditions or the ICC Dispute Board Rules.

Das Dispute Board ist ein projektbegleitendes Streitbeilegungsgremium, das vor allem bei grossen Bau- und Infrastrukturprojekten bereits bei Vertragsschluss eingesetzt wird. Es besteht meist aus einem oder drei unabhängigen Fachleuten, begleitet das Projekt laufend und gibt bei Streitigkeiten rasche Empfehlungen (Dispute Review Board) oder vorläufig verbindliche Entscheide (Dispute Adjudication Board) ab, etwa nach den FIDIC-Bedingungen oder den ICC Dispute Board Rules.
