Engagement and stewardship denote investors' active, long-term dialogue with investee companies aimed at improving their handling of ESG issues. Its instruments are discussions with the board and management, joint investor initiatives (collaborative engagement) and escalation through shareholder proposals and voting behaviour at the general meeting. Stewardship principles require transparency about the objectives, procedures and results of the engagement.

Der Aktionärsdialog (Engagement, Stewardship) ist der aktive, langfristig angelegte Dialog von Investoren mit Beteiligungsunternehmen mit dem Ziel, deren Umgang mit ESG-Themen zu verbessern. Instrumente sind Gespräche mit Verwaltungsrat und Management, gemeinsame Investoreninitiativen (kollaboratives Engagement) und die Eskalation über Anträge und Stimmverhalten an der Generalversammlung. Stewardship-Grundsätze verlangen Transparenz über Ziele, Verfahren und Ergebnisse des Engagements.
