Glasl escalation stages

Friedrich Glasl's model of nine escalation stages describes the stepwise intensification of conflicts across three levels: win-win (hardening, debate, deeds instead of words), win-lose (coalitions, loss of face, threat strategies) and lose-lose (destructive blows down to mutual ruin). The appropriate form of intervention is derived from the escalation stage; mediation is effective above all at the middle stages.

Das Modell der neun Eskalationsstufen nach Friedrich Glasl beschreibt die stufenweise Verschärfung von Konflikten in drei Ebenen: Win-win (Verhärtung, Debatte, Taten statt Worte), Win-lose (Koalitionen, Gesichtsverlust, Drohstrategien) und Lose-lose (Vernichtungsschläge bis zum gemeinsamen Untergang). Aus der Eskalationsstufe leitet sich die geeignete Interventionsform ab; Mediation ist vor allem auf den mittleren Stufen wirksam.
