Kennzeichen sind Intentionalität, Zusätzlichkeit (Additionalität) und Wirkungsmessung, etwa anhand der Sustainable Development Goals. Instrumente reichen von Mikrofinanz und Entwicklungsanlagen über Green und Social Bonds bis zu Private-Equity-Fonds; die Schweiz zählt zu den führenden Standorten für Impact-Fonds.
