In an instant payment the amount is credited finally to the recipient's account within seconds, around the clock on every day of the year. Switzerland introduced it in August 2024 through the SIC payment system; the largest institutions first had to be able to receive such payments, with the remainder following by the end of 2026. It replaces batch processing with next-day value. Finality also raises the risk of fraud, since a reversal is impossible.

Bei der Echtzeitzahlung wird der Betrag innert Sekunden endgültig dem Konto der Empfängerin oder des Empfängers gutgeschrieben, rund um die Uhr an allen Tagen. In der Schweiz wurde sie im August 2024 über das Zahlungssystem SIC eingeführt; die grössten Institute mussten solche Zahlungen zunächst empfangen können, die übrigen folgen bis Ende 2026. Sie ersetzt die Stapelverarbeitung mit Valuta am Folgetag. Die Endgültigkeit erhöht zugleich das Betrugsrisiko, weil eine Rückabwicklung ausscheidet.
