Med-arb is a hybrid dispute resolution procedure combining mediation and arbitration: if the mediation fails, an arbitral tribunal renders a binding decision, often within the same or a follow-on set of rules. Its advantages are a guaranteed outcome and efficiency; the dual role is problematic where the same person first mediates and then adjudicates, because confidential caucuses may influence the award. Variants include arb-med and MEDALOA.

Med-Arb ist ein hybrides Streitbeilegungsverfahren, das Mediation und Schiedsverfahren kombiniert: Scheitert die Mediation, entscheidet ein Schiedsgericht verbindlich, häufig in derselben oder einer anschliessenden Verfahrensordnung. Vorteile sind Ergebnisgarantie und Effizienz; problematisch ist die Doppelrolle, wenn dieselbe Person erst vermittelt und dann entscheidet, weil vertrauliche Einzelgespräche das Urteil beeinflussen können. Varianten sind Arb-Med und MEDALOA.
