Phase model of mediation

The phase model structures mediation into successive stages: opening and working alliance, collection of issues, clarification of interests, development and evaluation of options, and settlement agreement. Depending on the school, five to seven phases are distinguished. The model lends the process transparency and stability but is applied flexibly; returning to earlier phases is permissible and common.

Das Phasenmodell strukturiert die Mediation in aufeinanderfolgende Abschnitte: Eröffnung und Arbeitsbündnis, Themensammlung, Interessenklärung, Entwicklung und Bewertung von Optionen sowie Abschlussvereinbarung. Je nach Schule werden fünf bis sieben Phasen unterschieden. Das Modell gibt dem Verfahren Transparenz und Halt, wird aber flexibel gehandhabt; Rücksprünge in frühere Phasen sind zulässig und häufig.
