Internal investigation

An internal investigation is an inquiry initiated by the company itself into suspected misconduct, such as corruption, money laundering or data misuse. It comprises the preservation and analysis of documents and data as well as employee interviews, and must respect employment and data protection law, personality rights and possible seizure risks. Its findings may form the basis for employment measures, voluntary self-reporting or cooperation with the authorities.

Die interne Untersuchung ist die vom Unternehmen selbst veranlasste Abklärung eines Verdachts auf Fehlverhalten, etwa Korruption, Geldwäscherei oder Datenmissbrauch. Sie umfasst Sicherung und Auswertung von Dokumenten und Daten sowie Befragungen von Mitarbeitenden und muss Arbeits- und Datenschutzrecht, Persönlichkeitsrechte und allfällige Beschlagnahmerisiken beachten. Ergebnisse können Grundlage für arbeitsrechtliche Massnahmen, Selbstanzeigen oder die Kooperation mit Behörden bilden.
