Reframing

Reframing is a communication technique by which the mediator places a statement in a new frame of meaning: reproaches become concerns, attacks become needs, orientation to the past becomes questions about the future. Example: 'He never keeps deadlines' becomes 'Reliability in the cooperation matters to you'. Reframing de-escalates without distorting the substance and opens the view towards solutions.

Die Umdeutung (Reframing) ist eine Kommunikationstechnik, mit welcher der Mediator eine Äusserung in einen neuen Deutungsrahmen stellt: Vorwürfe werden zu Anliegen, Angriffe zu Bedürfnissen, Vergangenheitsorientierung zu Zukunftsfragen. Beispiel: 'Er hält nie Termine ein' wird zu 'Ihnen ist Verlässlichkeit in der Zusammenarbeit wichtig'. Reframing deeskaliert, ohne den Inhalt zu verfälschen, und öffnet den Blick auf Lösungen.
